Acid Sulfate Soil Assessment and Management Plans

Due to our proximity to the coast, a large number of development sites lie within areas prone to Acid Sulfate Soil. Our team are able to conduct on-site drilling and testing to determine the presence of potential acid sulfate soils.  Suspected acid sulfate soils are forwarded to a Laboratory for further testing. Management Plans are then written for on-site management and treatment of acid sulfate soils. Field validation and testing can be performed to test the results of on-site treatment.

Riparian Studies

Areas of development in close proximity to waterways require riparian studies and the implementation of buffer zones and/or rehabilitation. Our team of ecologists are able to provide these services. On site determination of species present on site, allows provision of recommendations on buffer distances in keeping with Council requirements, and potential rehabilitation of riparian zones.

Water Quality Monitoring

On-site testing of water quality is performed using a multi-function water meter. Where required samples are forwarded to a NATA approved laboratory for testing of required parameters. Water quality testing services provided include suitability of water source as potable water, maintenance of stream/waterway health during construction works, acid sulfate disturbance, ground-water monitoring for depth and quality during construction/de-watering works.

Flora and Fauna Assessments

Our environmental scientists perform site investigations for determination of flora and fauna species present on site. Our scientists search for rare and endangered species that are listed as potentially occurring within a site, and determine their existence upon the site. More detailed studies involving overnight trapping of fauna are also available.

Bushfire Hazard Assessment and Management Plans

Areas proposed for development may be mapped by Council as having a Bushfire Hazard Risk, be it low, medium or high.  These areas require on-site assessment of vegetation types, slope and aspect analysis.

After assessing the potential for bushfire on the site, a management plant is prepared providing recommendations on clearing of vegetation and buffer distances to limit potential adverse effects on the property from bushfire.  Recommendations are also made on landscaping in close proximity to the development, within buffer areas.

Erosion and Sediment Control

Erosion and sediment control is a serious issue on many development sites. Effective Erosion and Sediment Control measures are required by Councils to prevent potential nuisance to neighbouring properties or waterways.

Our staff have undertaken extensive training and are qualified to provide these plans.

Stormwater Management Plans

Using industry accepted computer based modelling we are able to provide solutions for Stormwater Quality and Quantity issues. We have extensive experience working with different Council areas and have a strong understanding of constraints and opportunities within the various regions.

Effluent Disposal Plans

For properties with no connection to sewerage infrastructure, we are able to provide effluent disposal plans. Using on-site inspection and laboratory testing of soil samples we are able to determine the feasibility of on-site disposal and determine the most suitable areas for disposal.

Contaminated Land Assessment

Contaminated land is approached in a staged process. A stage 1 assessment will determine the likelihood of contaminated soil being present on a site. Stage 2 investigations determine the extent of the contamination and the quantity of soil to be removed/remediated. Validation is performed once the soil has been removed and or remediated.

Noise Monitoring and Modelling

Utilising state-of-the-art noise monitoring and modelling equipment, we are able to offer solutions to your noise impact issues. Whether the potential impacts are from your development, or upon your development, we strive to provide the most suitable outcome and advise on mitigation, if required.

We also test noise levels from entertainment venues, and equipment such as airconditioners and pool pumps, to assess their impact on the local environment and compliance with state and local laws.

Air Quality Modelling

We will provide advice and management for you and your client’s proposed and existing industrial processing plants, petrol stations, sewage treatment plants, and other activities with atmospheric emissions. We will advise on environmental compliance for odour, dust, hydrocarbons and hazardous substances, using industry accepted computer modelling and monitoring. Our Industrial Chemists and Environmental Engineers are well versed with the Authority’s requirements, and successful mitigation techniques.
